Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour & 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda & 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp cold butter, diced
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk & 1/2 cup dried currants or raisins
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)

Directions

Cut butter into flour

Whisk dry ingredients. Rub cold butter into flour until pea-sized crumbs form. Stir in currants and caraway.

Add buttermilk and drop

Stir in buttermilk until a soft dough forms. Drop 8 mounds onto parchment-lined baking sheet.

Bake until golden

Bake at 400Β°F (200Β°C) for 20–25 minutes until deep golden and crusty.
