My Favorite Dessert Takes Only 3 Ingredients (It's Genius)
The famous 1930s Nabisco famous icebox cake made effortless: chocolate wafer cookies layered with freshly whipped vanilla cream. As it rests in the refrigerator, the cookies absorb moisture from the cream and soften into tender, chocolate cake-like layers. Difficulty: Super Easy.
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream & 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 package (9 oz) chocolate wafer cookies or Oreos (separated and crushed)
- Extra crushed cookies for topping
Directions
Whip vanilla cream
In a cold bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until medium-stiff peaks form.
Layer cookies and cream
Spread a thin layer of cream in an 8x8 dish. Layer cookies across, top with cream, and repeat layers, finishing with cream.
Chill overnight
Top with crushed cookies. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours (or overnight) until cookies soften into cake.
π‘ CHEF'S PRO TIPS
- Let it chill for a full 6 hours so every cookie completely softens into velvety cake.
