Pull-Apart Garlic Herb Bread with Melted Mozzarella
The ultimate interactive party bread. Guests pull apart warm, crusty bread fingers dripping with garlic butter and stretchy melted mozzarella straight from the baking pan.
Ingredients
- 1 round artisan sourdough or French bread boule (about 1 lb)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 1/2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
- 1/3 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- Warm marinara sauce for dipping
Directions
Cut crosshatch loaf
Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Using a serrated bread knife, slice bread in a 1-inch diamond crosshatch pattern, cutting deep but stopping before piercing through bottom crust.
Mix garlic butter
Whisk together melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, and salt in a small bowl.
Stuff cheese and butter
Drizzle garlic butter between all bread crevices. Stuff shredded mozzarella and parmesan generously into every crevice using your fingers.
Bake in foil
Wrap loaf loosely in aluminum foil. Bake for 15 minutes. Uncover top and bake 10 minutes more until cheese is bubbling and crust is golden crisp.
π‘ CHEF'S PRO TIPS
- Use a dense, crusty artisan sourdough boule so the bread doesn't collapse under the weight of the cheese.
- Serve hot right on a cutting board with a side bowl of marinara for dipping.

This has completely replaced my normal avocado toast! The beans blend so well you cannot even tell, and I stay full until lunchtime!
Great trick for adding protein without cooking eggs on busy mornings. Added a pinch of red pepper flakes and lemon zestβdelicious.
