Brioche French Toast with Cinnamon Vanilla Butter
The definitive French toast: thick bakery brioche soaked in a rich custard of eggs, whole milk, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon. Sizzled in clarified butter until exterior is caramelized and interior is custardy. Difficulty: Easy.
Ingredients
- 8 thick slices brioche bread (about 1 inch thick)
- 4 large eggs & 1/2 cup whole milk & 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp brown sugar & 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract & 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 tbsp butter for skillet
- Maple syrup, fresh berries, and powdered sugar
Directions
Whisk rich custard
In a shallow dish, whisk eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
Dip and soak brioche
Dip each brioche slice for 20 seconds per side until saturated.
Sizzle in butter
Cook in foamy butter over medium heat for 3β4 mins per side until deep golden brown.
